Role and Functionality of Department:

The Social Welfare Department is dedicated to the overall development of Scheduled Castes and the implementation of the Schedule Caste Sub Plan

The main objectives of the Social Welfare Department are Educational Advancement, Socio Economic Development, Welfare and Protection of Scheduled Castes and implementation of programmes of Social Security like Homes for Orphan Children, Rehabilitation of Jogins, Bonded Laborers and Scavengers.  The set objectives are being achieved by this Department through Different wings.

There are 81 Prematric Hostels and 19 Post matric Hostels are being maintained by Social Welfare Department in YSR District, Ambedkar Study Circle, Tirupati, Chittoor District., is providing free coaching to S.C Students to appear Competitive Examinations like UPSC, APPSC, SSC, RRB, BANK, DSC, Etc.,

 

Population:

According to the 2011 Census, the Scheduled Castes population in the State is 84,69,278 which accounts for 17.08% of the State’s population and the District Population is 28,84,524 and the S.C’s Population is 4,65,794 with a percentage of 16.14%

S.NO. SOCIAL WELFARE SCHEMES / ACTIVITIES
1 Pre-matric Hostels There are 81 Govt.S.W. Hostels/Institutions are functioning in the district for Prematric hostels

Admissions into the Hostels are given to Poor SC Students who are having White Ration Card and providing all facilities such as Food, Cosmetics, Accommodation, Note Books, Bedding Materials, Uniform, Night Wear, Slippers, Sports Materials etc., for free of cost.  During the year 2019-20,  8953 No. of Pre-matric students are being facilitated in S.W.Hostels in Y.S.R District.

2 Post-matric Hostels There are 19 Govt.S.W.Hostels/Institutions are functioning in the district for College Students.

Admissions into the Hostels are given to Poor SC Students who are having White Ration Card and providing all facilities such as Food, Cosmetics, Accommodation, Note Books, Bedding Materials, Uniform, Night Wear, Slippers, Sports Materials etc., for free of cost.  During the year 2019-20,  2407 No. of Post-matric students are being facilitated in S.W. Hostels in Y.S.R District.

3 Post-matric Scholarships All the SC Students who are having White Ration Card or Parents Annual Income of Rs.2.00 Lakhs below are eligible for applying of Scholarships from Intermediate and above courses.

The eligible SC Students will be sanctioned Mess Charges & Reimbursement of Tuition Fee and Exam Fee etc.,

4 Pre-matric Scholarships All the SC Students who are having White Ration Card or Parents Annual Income of Rs.2.00 Lakhs below are eligible for applying of Scholarships from Classes V to X.   This scheme is for providing Financial Assistance to all SC  eligible Students who are studying in Govt./MPPS/ZPHS/Aided Schools will be sanctioned Scholarships to Individual Bank Accounts of Students through online portal.
5 Best Available Schools SC Students who are having White Ration Card or Parents Annual Income of Rs.70,000/- below are eligible for 1st Class & 5th Class admissions into listed Schools.

1st Class (Non-residential)200 Seats and 5th Class (Residential) 250 Seats will be given admissions in Private selected schools under the Scheme in the District.

6 Hyderabad Public School SC Students who are having White Ration Card or Parents Annual Income of Rs.70,000/- below are eligible for 1st Class admission into listed Schools.

Every year 5 new students will be selected and admitted into 1st Class (Non-residential) under the Scheme in the District.

7 Ambedkar Overseas Vidhyanidhi The Scheme is to provide Financial Assistance of Rs.15.00 Lakhs to each students as Grant to S.C Students to pursue Higher Education in Foreign Countries permitted by the Government of A.P. The Family income of Applicant from all sources shall not exceed Rs.6.00 Lakhs Per Annum.
8 Y.S.R.Vidyonnathi The Scheme is to provide Financial Assistance to the S.C Students to meet the Coaching fee Expenses for All India Civil Services and State Group Services.
9 Admissions into Corporate Colleges The Scheme is to provide Admission for meritorious poor Students belonging to SC/ST/BC/EBC/MIN/DW into reputed Private Junior Colleges, introduced by the Government from the year 2011-12.   All S.C Students with White Ration Card or Whose annual parents income is below Rs.2.00 Lakhs are eligible for applying of Scholarships from Intermediate and above courses.

The District Selection Committee has selected the following Junior Colleges in the Y.S.R.District to implement the scheme for the year 2019-2020.

  1. Sri Vivekananda Junior College, Kadapa
  2. Sri Sai Ram Junior College, Kadapa
  3. JMJ Junior College, Kadapa

The Government have allotted 130 Seats providing admissions to poor students on merit basis to Y.S.R District under the scheme for the year 2019-2020

10 Financial Assistance to S.C Law Graduates The Scheme is to provide Financial Assistance to S.C Law Graduates imparting training in Administration of Justice

  1. Every year the Notification will be issued for applying of Stipend and selection process will be made by the S.W.Dept.
  2. The Selected candidates will be sanctioned of Rs.1000/- per month uniformly for three years and Rs.585/- as enrolment fee and Rs.6000/- towards purchase of Books & Furniture as one time grant.
  3. Allotted 8 Seats Per Annum.

Eligibility: The applicant must be Law Graduate (B.L/L.L.B) must enroll in Bar Council

11 Jagjeevan Jyothi (Free power to S.C house holds) The Government has extended the benefit of Free Power up to 200 Units to S.C House holds consumers under the scheme of Jagjeevan Jyothi.    S.C House holds consuming up to 200 units per month would be supplied Free power.

The Scheme earlier applicable up to 100 units and now it is has been extended up to 200 units to benefit more S.C Households Consumers, At present around 60,000 House holds are benefiting under the scheme in Y.S.R District.

12 Skill up-gradation The Scheme is to provide Financial Assistance to S.C Students for coaching for TOEFL / IELTS / GRE and GMAT and other for admission in Foreign Universities.     The S.C Graduates or Final year students at Graduation level whose family annual income is below Rs.2.00 Lakhs are eligible under the scheme.
13 Integrated Scheme of Book Bank Integrated Scheme of Book Banks is provided for supply of essential text books to S.C Students studying following professional courses.

Medical, Dental, Ayurvedic, Homeopathy, Veterinary Science, Agriculture, Pharmacy, Engineering, Polytechnic, B.Ed, M.B.A., Fine Arts etc.,
