Introduction: Govt of AP under the leadership of Honorable Chief Minister Sri YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, introduced a new system to make the government schemes reach to the root level through a special delivery mechanism via Village/Ward Secretariats.

In YSR District we have 256 Ward secretariats & 633 Village secretariats.

Functions of the department:

In YSR District Secretariat system will work under Joint Collector (V, WS&D), the post is which is specially designed for the monitoring of Village & Ward secretariats including development activities of the district.

Responsibilities & Duties:

1. GSWS department primary responsibility is to make every eligible person benefitted by the government scheme whichever introduced.
2. The employees & volunteers working for this department should deliver the services at the door step of the citizen within the timeline given by the government.
3. Four services were identified as Primary services of the secretariat which should be given high priority viz., RICE CARD, PENSION, AROGYASRI, HOUSE SITE.

For every 2000 households a secretariat is been setup and for every 50 households a volunteer is appointed for all the tasks taken up by the government.
