Total Geographical area of the District is 12,507 Sq.Kms. with 5 Revenue Divisions, 40 mandals, 619 Gram Panchayats, 793 Revenue Villages and 2257 Habitations. As per the 2011 Census the population of the District is 20,96,654 of which the Rural Population is 14,54,364 and the Urban Population is 8,42,290.  The density of population in the District is 185 per Sq.Km.  The Scheduled Castes Population is 3,53,860 and Scheduled Tribes Population is 52,994 in the District.
